Wow, there are only like six more days left in our cruise. But, today was another day in a new country. Riga. Because the past few days have been jam packed with tons of stuff, we decided to do or own thing and wander through the old town in Riga. Although this probably isn't my favorite city, it still was a lovely town. I guess the ship got a deal on docking or something because we originally were supposed to be docked right in town, but then something happened and we docked in a cargo port (so I guess we are cargo now... Haha) if you want lumber, go to Latvia. I mean seriously, the entire dock was full of lumber. But, back to the day. We rode the half an hour bus ride to this square in the old part of Riga. We got off and looked at a map for about 15 minutes. Then we just started walking. Because we got there before the big ship tours ( and it was a Sunday morning) the town was very still. At one point we wandered into this picturesque alleyway that dead ended at the back of a hotel. We just wandered around the city until about 12:00 pm. Then we sat on a bench outside this big church. Unfortunately we count go in the church because a service was being held. But we got to sit under this huge tree looking at the big squares full of open air restaurants and lots of pesky pigeons. We tried renting bikes, but we had to do stuff on the internet, and that was annoying. So we stopped trying. (Hey, we ain't quieted... We just... Didn't want to ride bikes that much *wink wink*) Last night we grabbed some sandwiches at a cafe on the ship, so we ate those in the square. After our lunch, we got Latvian ice cream. I got marzipan ice cream. It actually wasn't bad... And that different from American ice cream... Well, is more like Italian gelato). After ice cream we headed back to the spot where we got on the bus. But first we stopped at this museum about Latvia and the society union during WW2. It was a very interesting museum, and I learned some things from a different perspective. Once we finished the museum, we got back on the bus to the ship. Once we were on, we went up to the buffet and grabbed a quick snack. I only for tea. We saw Bob, who did some tours with us previously, and we talked with him for about 45 minutes. Then I went to the teen room and played fusbol until dinner. Apparently it was our head waiter's day of, so we had an assistant. Unfortunately things didn't go very smoothly. Miss Sabine (from Stuttgart, Germany) asked for this certain kind of soup for her meal. After 3 different kinds of soup being sent to or table, she ended up having fish and potatos. Things were a little rough at our table tonight, but we managed. After dinner I went up to the teen room for about an hour before going to the show. There were some people from circus deaux le. (Don't know how to spell that) This memorizing lady did some routines with silk and contraptions that hung from the ceiling. Also this guy did a lot of cool tricks on a bike... Like really cool tricks. After the show, I met some new girls, and now I am in bed. Tomorrow we don't meet our guide until 11:00 am, so we can have a relatively relaxed morning.
Lithuania here I come.
