Hannah: London Day 2 - August 10, 2015

Well, well, well. Today was a wonderful day. We started out relatively early. Our first stop today was St. Paul's cathedral. This morning's weather was a bit overcast, which was quite the contrast to this afternoon's beating sun. The cathedral was massive, but absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately we couldn't take photos while we were in the church, for obvious reasons. We had pre downloaded walking tours, so we listened and walked. I walked up the 257 stairs to the whispering gallery. (To the top it was about 527 steps up) It was so cool because I could whisper to my brother from across the dome, and he could hear me. (We hour there early so that there wouldn't be crowds at the whispering gallery) Because my hip was hurting me, I went back down to the floor level. When Sumner and dad for back from climbing the dome, we went underground to the crypt where many famous people are buried. After St. Paul's Cathedral, we grabbed lunch at this healthy fast food place called The Pod. It featured healthy foods with quick grab and go sandwiches, salads, and soups. The food was pretty good. After lunch, we went to the British museum. Wow, that place is huge. We only got through a fraction of the museum. We went through one of the biggest collections of Egyptian artifacts, other than Egypt itself. If you've watched the third Night at the Museum, we saw the big entrance room. It was so cool. Although it was very long and tiring, we saw so many interesting artifacts like the Rosetta Stone and statues from the Parthenon. After about an hour and 45 minutes of walking... Roughly, we stopped at this cafe inside the museum. I got tea and the rest of the family got sweets. I'm in love with tea, so I'm so happy that England is big on it. After the lovely break, we started back through the museum. This time we did a bit of the European section. We became quite tired, so we left. Now we are back at the apartment trying to think of what we are going to eat for dinner. Although everything is very tiring, it is so much fun riding the tube, walking through London's streets, and experiencing the madness of a big city. We'll definitely sleep well for the next week and a half.
Cheers,
~Hannah ~
