Hannah: Fredericia, Denmark - August 6, 2015

Wow. Today was another day packed with exciting things. This morning we had a relatively late breakfast (if you count getting up at 8:45 late) after breakfast, we got off the ship and walked into a gated in section next to the boat. Turns we are the 5th cruise ship every to dock in Fredericia. It's definitely a small town with no sights to see, but it's a wonderful small European town with cafes, picturesque walkways, and red roofed houses. There was no pathway into town, so we basically walked through this grass field until we got to the town square. It seemed that every person from Fredericia was selling something. There were baskets, scarves, and even jeans. It was funny because as we were walking into town we saw a group of kindergarten aged kids walking to see the cruise ship for a field trip. We walked up the pedestrian street for a while. Our sim card from Sweden had run out of minutes so we got a new card in a drugstore run by a man from Sri Lanka. After about 30 minutes, we finally got the new card. After the whole sim card stuff, we continued walking through the town. Surprisingly it had quite a few shops. We didn't buy anything, but it was nice just walking in a relaxed fashion (there wasn't... Go go go! We must be at our next destination in 5 minutes and... ) we had to meet the Coco's for the bridge walk at 1:00 pm, so we went back to the ship for lunch. Because everyone was in Fredericia, the buffet was quite still. After lunch, we left to go meet our cab, which would take us to the bridge walk. After a10-15 minute cab ride, we arrived at the bridge walk. It literally was a walk on a bridge. We had to wear theses attractive grey paper suits and harnesses. We climbed some stairs up to a height of about 300 meters. Then we walked along the bridge (this huge metal bridge that is the unit of transportation for all trains from Sweden, Norway, and Finland to Denmark. So, it was a big bridge) we walked to a height of about 500 meters above the river. We sat and looked over the river and Fredericia. We actually saw whales. Although, they were only about 1.5 meters long. After the two hour bridge walk, we went back to the ship. The entire town, and I mean the entire town, came out and stood on the little dock. There was a 7-ish person band, people dressed up in traditionally Danish outfits, and canons were actually shot off as we sailed away. I had about an hour of free time before dinner, so I grabbed a light snack and played shuffleboard. Dinner was wonderful with Werner and Sabine. We got their contact information, so we will be able to correspond with them after this cruise. After dinner I went and played in a ping pong tournament. Then I participated in a trivia game. The day was good. I can't beloved that tomorrow will be our last day/night on this cruise! Well, London here we come. (Although tomorrow and the next day are Copenhagen, Denmark)
