Hannah: Copenhagen, Denmark - August 7, 2015

So...it's the last day of the cruise. I'm so sad! But, today was a really fun, and slightly exhausting, day. This morning, after breakfast, we met the Coco's outside the terminal. We caught an 8 passenger cab to the me mover place. Out taxi driver was like a two faced southern man. He was a jolly man with a straw hat (not the hillbilly hat but the refined straw hat...ah you get the point) in his mid 60's who had a dry sense of humor. A small cab passed our van, and suddenly our driver started muttering fervidly in Danish. He made signs of breaking...like breaking an arm. It was bizarre. Then he was like, oh...taxi drivers who cut people should not be driving. Then he started joking with us. The driver gave us bonus time and drove us by the queens palace. We finally arrived at the me mover starting area. Now, a me mover is a cross between a Segway and an elliptical. (Or it's a stair master on steroids) we stood on the me movers and made a running motion. There were basically two different operating systems. One for the left and one for the right. (Fun fact: there were only 200 me movers made, and they're only in Copenhagen, Denmark) we rode around in the me movers on the water front for about 10-15 minutes. Then we went to a park and we saw the famous little mermaid. It was...very little. About halfway through the tour, we stopped at this fountain. This water thing wasn't normal. It was built so that people can walk and play in the water. There were even chairs for people to sit in...while they were in the water. (Don't worry, the chairs were high enough so that people would get wet behinds) after the 2 hourish tour, we went back to the me mover shop. We actually had to wait for our guide, so we got try this Danish pop. It was a like a mix between mellow yellow and Mountain Dew. After about 15 minutes of waiting (and relaxing) our guide arrived. Britt, who was our guide, took us to a little Danish sandwich cafe. I would have gotten one of the traditional open faced sandwiches, but we had to get on a bus. We walked to the bus stop, rode the bus for about 10 minutes, before getting on a train. After a 25 minute train ride to a little town (I can't remember the name of the town) outside of Copenhagen. Although it was a small town, it had a massive cathedral which housed all of the past rulers in Denmark. After observing a lot of tombs, we walked through a loverly park. The park offered wonderfulful soccer fields, appreciated shade, and gorgeous flowers. After about 10 minutes, we arrived at our destination. The Viking museum. It was funny because our guide could not pronounce the "v" in Viking. She kept saying W-iking. Britt appreciated the correction after someone in our group corrected her. Anyway, back to the museum. It was a museum where some people found remains from Viking ships. They were incredibly long. Some were as long or longer than an average school bus. Luckily it rained when we were inside, so we didn't have to walk back to the train in the rain. After the train ride back to Copenhagen, my family went back to the ship. We were afraid we wouldn't make it to the last dinner, but we squeaked in at 6:37 pm. It was nice being able to say goodbye to our German friends, Werner and Sabine. To our surprise, the couple that had joined us on a few tours (Bob and Diane) were in the dining room as well, so we got to say goodbye to them as well. It's funny because their daughter lives in Colorado as well, so we're hoping we'll be able to see them again. After dinner, I said goodbye to the kids in the teen room and finished packing. We had to have our bags in the hallway at 11:00 pm.
Well, I guess it's goodbye Serenade of the Seas :(
But, hey! We get 12 nights in England, then a day and a half in Iceland...and then school starts two days after we get back...haha ;)
