What a jolly good day I had today. The sun was out and there was no tran. This morning we got to sleep in a bit. (Till about 7:45 am) we had breakfast in the aboard net, got ready, and left. Today we went to green which. It is the marking spot for 0 longitude and the "beginning of time." We rode many different tube lines before we arrived in Greenwich. Before the observatory, we went to the Cutty Sark, one of the last tea ships. We got to walk through the runtime ship while experiencing hands on activities. After the ship, we walked past the lovely university of green which, and into the ground of the national maritime museum and the Greenwich observatory. It was quite the walk up to the observatory, t the view from the hill was lovely. We got our tickets (with our handy London passes) and free audio guides. We go to see old observation tools, clocks that had previously set the time for all Great Britain, and we saw the current clock that make the exact time, (you wouldn't the running late for anything at the observatory.) here was a long queue (line) for pictures in he prime meridian, so we waited behind a really, really, really, slow Chinese group. The literally took 10 photos per person with 5 different cameras. It was a little aggravating. After our picture, we saw some telescopes and couch. Then we walked back down the hill and into the town of Greenwich. We grabbed some lunch at a sandwhich shoppe before getting on the tube and heading back to Westminster abbey. W didn't go in again, we just had to go to that stop to get to the Florence nightingale museum. Because the museum as so hidden, though right next to St. Thomas Hostpiatl, there weren't many people. The museum was wonderful, as I hope to go into nursing. It was interesting seeing her personal journals, uniforms, and equipment. It was also interesting reading how she struggled with getting her parents permission in letting her be a nurse. Back then nursing was considered a lowly job. After the mussels, we took the tube to Picadilly Square. There's not much there, just the huge (I mean huge) digital ads. After pictures and such, we walked to Chinatown. It was a lot smaller than I thought, but it reminded me of the trip my family and I took to Vietnam 5 years ago. We got some dinner in a restaurant without the crispy duck in the window. (By crispy duck I mean a duck...with...ahem...head, beak, and feet...all cooked up and hanging I the window.) after dinner we ride back to our true stop, walked to our apartment, and sat down. Sorta. We're now on the porch relaxing after our busy day.
Well, ta-ta for now!
~Hannah~
